Since 2019, Amouage has embarked on a vast project to promote artistic creation through the introduction of the Amouage Art Project, which has seen the Omani House collaborate with emerging and established artists from the international scene across a variety of disciplines. Pursuing its role as an arts patron and enriching its long tradition of promoting a plurality of voices in the field of perfumery, as embodied by the broad constellation of perfumers who have signed fragrances for the House, this year, Amouage launches the Guidance Art Contest.
Open to artists of all genres, ages and nationalities, this innovative format for artistic exploration targets any creator with a personal and original take on Guidance, the third act of the Escape Chapter of the Odyssey Collection. Submissions must be linked to the perfume, from the stakes surrounding the notion of Guidance to the raw materials used in its formulation.
The disciplines and fields of expression considered may include, but are not limited to, the following: photography, cinematography, animation, music, digital creation, etc. The use of artificial intelligence is authorised as long as its use is disclosed.
Candidates are encouraged to submit their entries by 31 October on their social platforms using the hashtag #TheGuidanceArtContest.
At the close of the contest, the laureate will be selected by Renaud Salmon, Amouage’s Chief Creative Officer, and will be invited on an immersive trip to the Sultanate of Oman, where they will take part in the traditional and sustainable harvest of the rare Omani Rockrose in the ancestral terraced fields of the Jabal Akhdar.
This call for entries is open to any client or creator who meets the above selection criteria, in particular that of presenting a new artistic work that adheres to the ethical values promoted by the House. All related expenses will be covered by Amouage.
Guidance is the spellbinding floral-ambery reinterpretation of the traditional Amouage accord composed of three rare ingredients carefully sourced from Oman, including Rockrose from Jebel Akhdar, Royal Frankincense from Dhofar and Ambergris from the shores of the Sultanate. It posits as the third act of the Escape Chapter, a tale of introspection and contemplation inspired by the thought-provoking bareness of the nature of the isle of Masirah.
