The F&B scene in Muscat has become more vibrant in the last few months thanks to the arrival of different brands and experiences. Are diners enthused? Most definitely. This brings us to the renowned culinary Peruvian paradise, Coya. The globally acclaimed restaurant opened its doors at The St. Regis Al Mouj Muscat last month much to the delight of gourmands.
The effervescent and eclectic brand brings to the capital all the features Coya is known for – good food, pulsating ambience, and exquisite music. Anyone who has been to Coya would know how lively the buzz is at its outlets and Muscat is no exception. The vibe is high right and you feel it right from the moment you arrive at Coya.

The lively buzz of Coya envelops as soon as you enter the dark and enigmatic space. Coya is as much a cultural treat as it is a foodies’ haven. The restaurant features a wonderful mix of traditional and contemporary design elements inspired by Peruvian culture. The décor of the restaurant includes authentic artefacts, bespoke furnishings, and stunning murals that exude the fine artistry of Latin America. Add to that the lush greenery around the restaurant as well as the air-conditioned outdoor seating and you have a winner.

The menu is extensive and impressive, but then on wouldn’t expect anything less from Coya. The brand has an outstanding range of cocktails of which the pisco-infused concoctions are the most popular. For our meal, we let the chef surprise us and we certainly weren’t disappointed. The exquisite fare at dinner included ceviche, (which Coya is popular for and has a wide variety of) appetisers, the highlight being guacamole prepared fresh at the table, chicken skewers, beef ribs and bomba rice. One never leaves Coya without having one of the establishment’s famous desserts. In our case, we were treated to two – the lime cheesecake with mango and exotic fruit sorbet, and the three milk cake with salted dulce de leche, both of which are simply delightful.
Coya’s eponymous music label is globally renowned, and the brand will be bringing in international DJs to Muscat for special events and weekends soon. And on other nights, they have a local DJ who churns out the music that Coya has come to be known for.
If you are ready for a night out that includes fine food, a vibrant ambience and cool tunes, Coya is the place to head to. Don’t blame us if you become a Coya aficionado like us!
