Moscow Fashion Week brought together Russian and international designers in a celebration of creativity and cultural heritage, showcasing extraordinary designs that served as a nod to their roots. This convergence of talent on the global stage not only highlighted the unique perspectives and traditions of both Russian and international designers but also exemplified the power of fashion to bridge cultures and create a dialogue between diverse artistic visions.
While all the collections were unique in their own way, we pick seven of our favourite labels from Moscow Fashion Week that stood out from the rest.
YANA BESFAMILNAYA
The brand showcased a collection that emphasized deconstruction. Multi-layered garments where different elements overlap, symbolizing both protection and the potential for unconventional styling embellished with grunge aesthetics, this collection stood out for us.
BY /DAS/
by /DAS/ from Moscow caught our attention with a collection that utilized repurposed materials featuring Slavic folklore through a contemporary perspective. While deconstruction was the core of the collection, the styling and purpose behind the collection gave it a truly metaphorical personality.
XAKAMA
A clear favourite of many at the event, XakaMa’s collection was a lovely blend of Eastern minimalism and intricate deconstruction crafted for women who are not afraid to showcase their individuality.
YEGOR ZAITSEV
The tribute show to the late Russian fashion designer Yegor Zaitsev showcased two collections, STAR.OST and NEW G’LOOK, which were originally designed in 2010. Zaitsev’s presentation provided a deeply emotional experience, blending stylish innovation with futuristic and avant-garde elements that represented the conflict between darkness and light.
KOSS KOSS
Koss Koss took inspiration from the nostalgic atmosphere of a Soviet autumn resort. We especially liked the spike chokers, deconstructed cuts, vibrantly coloured tights, and elegant dresses which made for a juxtaposition of styles that blended harmoniously.
TSHEGOFATSO BY DESIGN
South African label Tshegofatso By Design brought the vibrant culture and aesthetic appeal of the continent to its collection. The collection brought together avant-garde and grunge styles, complemented by quirky makeup.
NITIN BAL CHAUHAN
Indian designer, Nitin Bal Chauhan, displayed a range of intricate designs, sharp fabrics, and fluid styling. His collection was an amalgamation of sophistication and edginess.
